1. Application for a programme
   First, you have to apply directly for the desired training or study place with your certificates. The school or university decides on your admission. Recognition of your certificates is often not necessary.
    
2. Confirmation
   If the school or university in question requires recognition of your certificate for access to training (Ausbildung) or studies, you will receive a written confirmation from the school or university. Please understand that we can only initiate a recognition process with such confirmation.
    
3. Application to our office
   Please submit all necessary documents (see below) by mail.
    
4. Processing your application
   Processing usually takes several weeks. Please do not ask us about the status during this period. If you wish to receive an acknowledgment of receipt, please use the tracking service of Deutsche Post (registered mail / Einschreiben).

The procedure is free of charge.

The highest possible evaluation will be considered.

Our office can make the following evaluations:

• Mittelschulabschluss (School leaving certificate after 9 years of general education in Bavaria)
• Mittlerer Schulabschluss / Mittlere Reife / Realschulabschluss (School leaving certificate after 10 years of general education in Bavaria)
• Qualification for the „Feststellungsprüfung“ at „Studienkolleg”
• Entrance qualification to universities of applied sciences (German: Fachabitur) or general university entrance qualification (German: Abitur)

• Letter from the educational institution in Bavaria (e.g. school or university) stating that they need a recognition of your certificates, issued in your name
   
• Filled-in application form (please include a contact address in Germany)
   
• Simple copy of your ID card or passport (only the photo page). Serial numbers and photo can be blacked out (if you have multiple nationalities, please provide one passport copy for each)
   
• If applicable, proof of name change (e.g., marriage certificate) in simple copy (possibly with German translation)
   
• If applicable, written power of attorney for third parties
   
• Tabular academic CV with month-precise details of all attended schools, beginning with grade 1 of primary school and acquired qualifications – please also specify study periods (field of study, duration, university)
   
• Educational certificates in officially certified copies of the foreign originals
   
  • Graduation certificate(s) with transcript (details on subjects and grades). If no degree/diploma was obtained, please submit at least the last two annual report cards
     
  • Proof of passing the university entrance examination, if required in your country
     
  • If you have already started or completed studies abroad: transcript/academic record of all academic achievements and, if applicable, university diploma (e. g. B.A. / B.Sc.)
     
• Translations of all educational certificates (no translation needed for English and French certificates)

In Germany, you can get translations from sworn translators (see database of sworn translators at www.justiz-dolmetscher.de)

In some cases, submission of the original certificates is required. We will contact you directly if this is necessary in your case.

In some cases, additional documents (e.g., original certificates) may be necessary, which we will request separately. Please send originals by registered mail (Einschreiben). Alternatively, you can also deposit them in our mailbox (Stuttgarter Str. 1, 91710 Gunzenhausen) or hand them in person. Please tell us whether you also wish to pick up the documents or hand them in in person.
